Rebel Óg Fé 18 Premier 2 football league
Fermoy 5-10, Mallow 2-8
We hosted Mallow in the league on Tuesday 21st March. We were anxious to get another win under belts to continue our good progress so far this season.
Unlike our previous game, we started very well and raced into an early lead with an early goal & point but by the 16th minutes Mallow had levelled with a goal of their own from a penalty and a pointed free. It looked like it would be close game but our lads had other plans, they put the head down and by half time had scored another 2-4 to lead 3-5 to 1-3 at half time.
By this time temperatures were dropping and the rain was falling, so they game was proving to be hard on the body. We emptied our bench completely in the second half and we still managed to maintain our lead. Despite the rain turning to snow, the performance levels never wavered and by full time we were comprehensive winners 5-10 to 2-8.
All in all the lads displayed great determination and work rate in tough, cold conditions. Whilst we still have a lot of work to be doing, the progress so far is very pleasing.
