Saturday evening Fermoy juniors faced Charleville in the final game of the league. Fermoy had already tied up a Semi-Final position and with the upcoming u21 championship, management would insist on seeing more younger lads getting important gametime before the championship. A young team lined out on the good evening in Charleville but as the team has very little time together found it hard to bond at the beginning. Players like Ross O’Sullivan had good games and other lads who may have been in exams up till only a few weeks ago, got some minutes in to the legs. Charleville were a mix of young and old and played well against the wind in the first half. Shane O’Keeffe was on target from the placed ball, keeping Fermoy in the game and at half time it was 0-9 to 0-5 in our favour. With the second half we saw some changes and a few knocks picked up but Charleville built up steam and began to pull away with a strong wind. David O’Callaghan played well up front carrying his form from minor into the adult grade as to did Dale Dawson. In a game that got away from Fermoy, the young lads still did well before championship and can call it a good work-out for the coming weeks. Final score ended at 1-19 to 0-13 in favour of Charleville. Fermoy Juniors make their way into the playoffs regardless of the result.
