Kildorrery would hold a Junior Football shoot out last Saturday when it was a ‘’do or die day’’ for Fermoy as they faced Ballyclough, the current North Cork Champions. With yet another young team, Fermoy were up for the battle. Ballyclough also came meaning business and they were the first the point through Colm O’Neill but Fermoy matched everything Ballyclough could do. After nearly 25mintes gone Fermoy had pushed the score line out to 0-7 to 0-6 and both keepers were called on before the end of the half, both keepers pulling out the saves. Ballyclough would kick the final score the opening half bring the score line to 0-6 to 0-7. The second half was as open as the first half but Ballyclough began to pull away after they converted a penalty after the restart, leaving the game at the score line of 1-11 to 0-10 in favour of the Champions. Heart and guts made Fermoy think hard and step it up another notch and they were rewarded when they would bring it back to a draw after being three points down. Eion Lacey and Cian O’Carroll had very impressive games scoring 1-8 of the 1-14 total. The defencive games from the full back line was outstanding, keeping Colm O'Neill quite for the most. While Lacey was on form, he would show pure class when he swung another beauty over the bar to deflate the Champions year. Fermoy will now face Buttevant on the 22nd of July. The Team that lined out; J Condon, A Creed, P Healy, R O’Sullivan, J O’Callaghan, J Pyne, K Dorgan, J Hutchings, S Aherne, D Flynn, P Shanahan, R McEvoy, M Flynn,E Lacey and C O’Carroll.
