Last Tuesday night the U21s had to make their way down to Araglen to Face Ballygiblin in the final round of the Round Robin series. A win would secure a place in the North Cork Final and a loss would mean there would be a three team play off between Fermoy, Glanworth and Ballygiblin. Fermoy started less a few players but the game had to go on. Fermoy got off to a good start and Ballygiblin replied with one of their own. After 10 minutes Fermoy lead 0-3 to 0-1 but Ballygiblin would get their first goal bringing it 0-3 to 1-2. Fermoy cancelled out the goal and brought it to a drawn game after 17 minutes. The rest of the half was a bit of a shootout, in which both teams got their purple patch. Shane Aherne seemed to be everywhere picking up ball all over the field and commanding the ship. Fermoy went into the break at half time only one point down 0-8 to 1-6.

Fermoy came out of the blocks quickly and two well taken points were all undone when Ballygiblin burst the net for the second time. 2-7 to 0-10 in favour of Ballygiblin and they would only increase the lead to 2-11 to 0-11 with 20 minutes to go. The next 10 minutes was back and forth and coming into the last few minutes the score was 2-13 to 0-13. In fairness to the lads they put in a good shift but Ballygiblin just proved more determined on the night. The final score was 2-14 to 0-14, the goals proved to be a big difference. Fermoy also had a high number of wides but they will look to correct this before they go into the three team play off. As the draw stands Fermoy will have to face Ballygiblin again this Tuesday and the winners will face Glanworth. The winners of the Glanworth game will then face Kilworth in the final.
