Up And Come

Fermoy juvenile club had another hectic week with the u10s and u12s donning their county jerseys to compete in the Mullinahone tournament on Saturday 26th August.  It was the u10s first experience of ground hurling and they did the club proud winning two out of their 3 matches.  The more experienced u12s put on a magnificent display, conceding only one goal and outshining all their opponents to come home with the trophy.

Again on the 26th August, three of our u15 players, Cormac Roche, Jake Carr and Darragh Daly, also had the opportunity to put on the county jerseys as they had the honour of playing in the Cork u15b squad in the all-Ireland in Co. Clare with Cormac making captain.  The lads were able to dig deep and bring the cup back home with them after a bruising final against Galway which went into extra time.

The club’s extremely proud of all of you!

Don’t forget that Fermoy Juvenile GAA is hosting a blitz for our younger hurling and camogie players on Saturday 2nd September from 10 am to 12 in the main pitch.  This is part of the Fermoy Festival programme and we hope to see as many of you as possible there.  Check our Facebook page for more details.

Notes

Camogie

Our u7/8 girls had games against experienced St Catherine’s teams. The girls worked very hard and never gave up. They have been working really hard all year and are improving every week.

Our u10's played a friendly game against an experienced Castlelyon’s team. Our girls played hard and never gave up. It is great to see the improvements in all the girls. Keep up the good work.

U12/13 girls trained well this week.

Parents will be informed about training times via text.

U10s

Busy few weeks as we played Lismore in hurling and Kanturk in football in the league which is back on again until the end of September. Very good display in both games - and match practice over the last few weeks is evident in the lads on the pitch. Thanks to Castlelyons for invition to their fun day we played three hurling game against St Catherine’s, Ballyduff and Bride Rovers. These were competitive games.

The Mullinahone Tournament was a great experience for the players and mentors were delighted to see each of the lads getting involved in the play and supporting each other on the pitch. St Mary's Clonmel beckons this weekend and there’s an abundance of league games coming up. We will text details in advance of games.

U11

The u11s had a well-deserved quiet week.  Football and hurling training continues Thursday and Monday nights

U12s

This week was very busy for the U12s, on Monday night our 2nd team were in action in the hurling league against Cuchulainn’s, after a very good game we won on a score of 5-9 to 4-9.  On Wednesday night we took on our neighbours Kilara Og in the North football league. We ran out winners 11 points to 2.  On Friday night our premier one football team played Valley Rovers in the league.  In the first 20 minutes we played great football to lead 3-3 to no score, Valley Rovers came back into the game and the second half was a great battle, which we won on the score of 5-9 to 2-11.  On Saturday we had an early start as we headed to Mullinahone.  In group stages we beat Mullinahone, Sean Lynch’s, Derry and Eoin Ruadh from Tyrone.  This put us into the semi-final against Meath which we won well.  In the final we met Cloney-Quin from Clare. After a great game of hurling we won on a score of 2-5 to 1-6.  This was a great performance from the lads after a tough game of football the night before. Well done lads.
